Stein am Rhein is located exactly where the Rhine flows out of Lake Constance again. It is especially known for its very well preserved old town center with beautiful colorful house facades and old half-timbered houses. in 1972, the city even received the very first Wakker Prize for it. Visitors enjoy an irresistible charming flair and great culinary choices throughout the city. Among the most impressive sights are the St. Georgen Monastery, Hohenklingen Castle and the Werd group of islands with its recreational area. St. Georgen Monastery is considered one of the best preserved medieval monasteries. Hohenklingen Castle was also built in the Middle Ages and is located about 200 meters above the city.
