Isenthal is located in the canton of Uri on the west side of Lake Uri, the southeastern part of Lake Lucerne. The wooded Grosstal is flowed through here by the Isentalerbach. At the power station Kleintal the Chlitalerbach flows into the valley and from here on the valley is called Isental. The municipality of Isenthal lies between Wolfenschiessen, Engelberg and the Lake of Uri. Large alpine areas belong to the municipality. The highest place is Gitschenen (at 1550 m above sea level). The area is known for untouched landscapes, lovingly maintained alps and dense mountain forests.
