Hergiswil is located on Lake Lucerne, at the foot of Mount Pilatus. The Lake Side Festival, which lasts several days, is held here every year on the shores of Lake Lucerne. Hergiswil is also known for its glassworks, Glasi Hergiswil, founded in 1817. Handmade glass is still produced here. The museum in the Glasi is one of the most beautiful museums in Switzerland. In the village itself, the Sigristenhaus, dating from the 15th century, is worth seeing. It is one of the oldest wooden houses in central Switzerland. The church of St. Nicholas, built in the middle of the 19th century, was designed in Byzantine style.
