Bönigen is located on the southern shore of Lake Brienz in the Bernese Oberland. The village center of Bönigen stretches along the northwestern border of the municipality along the Lütschine River to the lake and is almost connected to Interlaken. In the village there are picturesque wooden houses, often dating back to the 16th century. The largest part of the village in terms of area consists of steep mountain slopes. The Loucherhorn, the Roteflue and the Schynige Platte can be found on its peaks. Walks along the lake or a bike tour along the Lütschine are very relaxing. From Bönigen, kayak tours or jet boat tours across Lake Brienz are popular.
