Zweisimmen is located in the Simmental in the Bernese Oberland. The village got its name because the Kleine and Grosse Simme rivers flow together here. The valley is surrounded by mountains to the north and south. To the south lies the main ridge of the Bernese Alps with its widely glaciated area. The Diablerets massif, the Wildstrubel and the Wildhorn are clearly visible. To the north, the prominent jags of the Stockhorn-Gantrisch-Gastlosen chain can be seen. The entire area of Zweisimmen stretches from 880 m above sea level in the valley up to 2476 m above sea level. Zweisimmen is considered the gateway to Gstaad and is the starting point for the Montreux - Bernese Oberland railroad.
