The beautiful Rigi, also known as the "Queen of the Mountains", is located right next to the glittering Lake Lucerne. With its unique panoramic view and majestic location, the mountain is one of the most popular excursion mountains in Switzerland.
At the port of Lucerne you board a modern ship in the morning. Your excursion starts with a one-hour boat ride across Lake Lucerne to Vitznau. Afterwards you will be thrilled by the ride on the first mountain railroad in Europe. Over 1300 meters of altitude are overcome during the ascent.
Arrived at the terminus Rigi Kulm, a short path leads to the summit of the queen of the mountains. No one should miss this majestic view at 1797 meters above sea level. Central Switzerland and all its alpine splendor are at your feet. Here you will have free time to explore the multifaceted world of Rigi.
The tour then continues with the rack railroad to Rigi Kaltbad. The wellness oasis with mineral bath & spa by architect Mario Botta offers not only relaxing moments but also architectural highlights. If you ever come back with more time, a visit to the mineral bath is definitely worthwhile. A hike of about 2 km leads to the Känzeli, one of the most popular viewing platforms on the Rigi.
Back down into the valley, the 2.3 km long aerial cableway will take you, again offering spectacular views of the surrounding mountains. Enjoy the ride and sit back until you reach the Weggis valley station (replaced by rack railroad during maintenance in April/November).
From the boat station Weggis you start the return journey by boat. The tour ends in Lucerne.
