The House of Läderach opened its doors in November 2020 and offers a variety of activities and attractions that delight both young and old.

The Secrets of Chocolate Making

At the House of Läderach, an interactive tour guides visitors through various themed areas. Along the way, you’ll learn fascinating facts about the company's history. You’ll also discover how to enjoy and taste chocolate with all five senses. In the second part of the tour, a 30-minute guided session reveals how delicious chocolate is made from cocoa beans. You’ll see how Läderach maintains the exceptional freshness and quality of its chocolate. A special highlight of the tour is visiting a chocolate fountain, where you can taste three different varieties of chocolate. At the end of the tour, your guide will unveil the secret behind the unique freshness of Läderach. You can join factory tours in various combinations: with or without a chocolate museum and with or without a chocolate course in the Walk-In Atelier. Generous tastings of delicious chocolate are always included.

Chocolate Workshops

The chocolate workshops offer a variety of experiences. You can pour and decorate a figure made of liquid chocolate yourself. Or you can visit the Walk-In Workshop. Here, you can choose the shape and type of chocolate with a chocolatier. You’ll have nine fine ingredients to pick from. Then, you cool them in a mold in the cooling tunnel, and you decorate and package them yourself. No pre-registration is required.

Kids’ Events

You can plan a fun kids’ birthday party in the chocolate paradise in various ways at the House of Läderach. Chocolate always plays a big role, and the kids can treat themselves wonderfully—not just at the chocolate fountain.

Factory Outlet and Café at the House of Läderach

The House of Läderach features a factory outlet with a special surprise: the largest FreshChocolate counter in the world, offering over 20 delicious varieties.

Visitors are warmly invited to enjoy free samples and discover their favorite flavors. The large chocolate bars are produced daily in Switzerland and delivered to Läderach chocolatiers worldwide within a few days. There, they are individually broken into pieces according to customers' preferences at the counter.

Chocolate lovers can also explore the diverse range of products offered at the shop. This includes pralines, truffles, airy mini mousse, and other sweet temptations, all available at attractive prices.

Läderach is particularly well-known for its broken chocolate. Fruits, nuts, corn flakes, and other ingredients are generously mixed into the chocolate.

The concept of the House of Läderach is rounded off by a stylish café. Here, visitors can enjoy a homemade pastry creation, an exceptional cocoa drink in typical Läderach style, and many other delicacies.The House of Läderach is a popular destination for both chocolate connoisseurs and families.

Getting to the House of Läderach

The House of Läderach is located in Bilten, in Glarus Nord. It’s easily accessible from Zürich or Schwyz. The buildings are fully wheelchair accessible, by the way.

Public Transport

From Zürich, you can reach Bilten by train in about an hour. From St. Gallen, it takes around 90 minutes via Uznach. If you’re coming from Schwyz, you’ll need to change public transport several times, so plan for at least two hours.

The Postbus 524 will take you directly to the factory in Bilten (stop Grabenstrasse).

By Car

You can reach the chocolate factory from Zurich in about 45 minutes via the A3. From Schwyz, it's about a 45-minute drive using Route 14 and the A3 to Bilten. The journey from St. Gallen takes approximately 20 minutes longer. You can choose between the eastern route on the A1, A13, and A3 or the western route via the A1.
