Porrentruy (German Pruntrut) is a historic small town that stretches in a lowland on both sides of the river Allaine. The old town is situated in a slightly elevated position and is very stately to look at. Its town houses were built in Gothic, Baroque and Neoclassical styles. In the north of the old town stands the castle built in the 13th-16th centuries. The Porte de France is the only town gate that has been preserved. In the surroundings, the Grottes de Réclère and the prehistoric park of Réclère are very worth seeing.
