The 800-year-old Zähringer town is surrounded by a walkable town wall. It is the only walkable circular wall in Switzerland. Passenger ships ply Lake Murten, and you can also visit the country's longest sandy beach at Salavaux. From the nearby Mont Vully you have a wonderful view of the Alps and the mountain ranges of the Jura.
