Learn the basics you need for high altitude tours and glacier hikes in this course. An experienced mountain guide will show you how to use an ice axe, rope and crampons in the alpine mountains. On the second day you can even apply what you have learned on the ascent of the 4000m Breithorn.
You can expect two instructive days in which you will receive a professional introduction and training on mountain tours and can apply your knowledge directly on an ascent!
On the first day you will meet in Zermatt with your group or with your private mountain guide. You will check your equipment and get to know each other.
From Zermatt, you will all travel together to Trockenen Steg and tackle a short climb to the Gandegg Hut.
On the lower Theodul glacier, your basic course begins. You will learn how to behave on a high altitude tour and how to handle the equipment correctly.
In the evening you spend the night in the Gandegg hut. The next morning, after a short walk to Trockener Steg, you will take the train to the Klein Matterhorn station. From there you start the ascent to the Breithorn (4164 m), where you can put all your knowledge directly into practice. Enjoy the alpine landscape and the breathtaking view of the surrounding mountain peaks. The hike takes about 3-4 hours
After the descent from the Breithorn you make your way home.
