Leukerbad is located in the Upper Valais in the rear Dala valley. The village stretches between heights from 1411 to 2700 m above sea level. Already in Roman times the area was known for its hot thermal springs. The valley is overlooked by several mountain giants such as Balmhorn (3697 m above sea level), Leeshörner (2974 m above sea level), Rinderhorn (3449 m above sea level) and Torrenthorn (2997 m above sea level). Several glaciers are also located here. On its deep saddle, the Gemmi Pass connects the Valais with the Bern region. A cable car runs from Leukerbad (1411 m a.s.l.) to the pass (2314 m a.s.l.). A 330m long via ferrata is located directly below the mountain station. From Leukerbad people like to hike to Adelboden or Kandersteg. In winter, winter hiking trails, cross-country ski trails and snowshoe trails are prepared.
