Many legends and myths have grown up around Mount Pilatus. In the Middle Ages, it was believed that dragons once dwelled in the bare crevices of Mount Pilatus. Even today you can discover the dragons here and marvel at the magnificent view at the same time. This tour gives you a unique insight into the fantastic world of this mountain.
A modern coach will take you to Lucerne. On the way there, there will be a photo stop at Lake Lucerne, where you can already take your first photos. The tour guide will tell you exciting things about the eventful history and the unique traditions of Switzerland.
In Lucerne you will see the most important sights of the city on a short orientation tour. Especially the baroque Jesuit Church and the famous Chapel Bridge will impress you. Afterwards you will have free time to discover the old town full of character on your own.
The bus will then take you to Kriens. From here you take the panorama gondola to Fräkmüntegg. Immediately afterwards you change to the ultra-modern cable car "Dragon Ride". Thanks to the large panorama windows, you can enjoy the breathtaking view even more. It almost feels like you are flying. (During the maintenance period from the end of October to the beginning of November you will ride the rack railroad).
From the top station, it's a short walk to the top of Mount Pilatus. The dragon path takes you to 2132 m.a.s.l. Here you have a fantastic view of the surrounding mountains of the Swiss Alps and the turquoise blue lakes. Now you can take advantage of the numerous hiking opportunities or have a bite to eat in one of the restaurants.
Afterwards, you will take the world's steepest cogwheel railroad from Pilatus Kulm past blooming alpine meadows down into the valley. The 40-minute ride at a maximum gradient of 48% is a very special experience. From the valley station in Alpnachstad, the journey takes you back to Lucerne. During a one-hour boat trip on the idyllic Lake Lucerne, you let the tour come to an end (until about mid-October, after that you get a lunch voucher for the Pilatus summit as compensation). Finally, you will return to Zurich by coach in the late afternoon.
