Summer climbing school for families in Adelboden 2 afternoons

The summer climbing school for families offers a two-day program. It is specifically designed to introduce children, teenagers, and families to the world of climbing.

On two consecutive afternoons, participants will learn the basic climbing techniques and safety aspects.

Program on the first day:

• Equipment knowledge
• Adjusting climbing gear
• Short hike to the climbing rock
• Learning important knots and belaying techniques
• First climbing exercises under expert guidance

Program on the second day:

• Improving climbing techniques
• Independent climbing and belaying
• Climbing top-rope routes

Top-rope routes are climbing routes where the rope is already secured at a fixed point (anchor or pulley) at the top. The climber is secured from the beginning, as the rope comes from above and is controlled by a belaying partner.

Clothing:

• Sun hat
• Sunglasses
• Rain or wind jacket with hood
• Fleece pullover or softshell
• Functional underwear
• Hiking pants
• possibly rain trousers
• Good hiking or mountaineering shoes
• Backpack about 30 l

Technical Equipment (rental included)

• Helmet
• Harness with 1 carabiner
• Via ferrata set

Endurance (easy):

• Elevation difference of up to 800 m per day, in exceptional cases also a bit more
• About 250 m ascent per hour

Technique (easy):

• No alpine technical knowledge required

• No climbing experience necessary
• Children between 6 and 12 years old only in the company of parents

• In case of bad weather, the climbing hall of the Freizeit- und Sportarena Adelboden will be used (entry fee applies)
