Château-d'Oex is located 22 km east of Vevey and lies at 958 m above sea level. The village with about 3500 inhabitants extends in a valley widening of the Pays-d'Enhaut slightly elevated above the valley of the Saane in the Vaud Alps. Château-d'Oex includes numerous hamlets, vacation settlements, alpine settlements and individual farms. Both the 14th century Saint-Donat church and the 19th century suspension bridge are considered sights of Château-d'Oex. The vacation region of the Vaud Alps is connected to the Lake Geneva region via Col des Mosses. The Montreux - Bernese Oberland railroad also connects the two regions. Château-d'Oex has a special microclimate and is therefore particularly suitable for balloon flights. The ski resort of La Braye has 20 km of slopes and 4 lifts.
